Redesigning Renonation: Connecting Homeowners to Designers Seamlessly
Renonation is a trusted name in Singapore’s home and living scene, and has become the go-to platform for thousands of homeowners seeking top-notch interior designers, reliable contractors, and all things home improvement.
We were brought in as the creative and development agency to completely redesign their website. This revamp is not just about a fresh, customer-facing makeover—it is a full-scale transformation, supporting interior designers, merchants, and administrators with a robust backend platform to manage their businesses with a click of a button.
Understand the user
As this was a complete revamp, a pragmatic approach anchored the design process. This is critical, given the platform’s long history of serving its users through steady, progressive enhancements. Prioritising a deep understanding of existing pain points, business challenges, and user feedback took precedence over creative intuition and untested design hypotheses.
Ease of Use and Features
In this comprehensive redesign, we reimagined the onboarding flow to offer a more personalised and intuitive experience. Users can now share detailed information about their dream home, preferred styles, and renovation goals, ensuring that their journey is tailored to their unique needs and aspirations.
With over 50 enhancements to the existing website, here are some of the key upgrades that stand out:
Homepage
We restructured the homepage layout and redesigned the search bar to prioritise lead generation and content discovery. Whether users are exploring how Renonation can support their renovation journey, seeking inspiration from the latest trends, or diving into renovation articles and ideas, the homepage now serves as a clear and comprehensive starting point, balancing functionality with ease of navigation.
Portfolio Detail Page
A significant improvement was made to the gallery experience. We adopted a scroll-friendly approach inspired by the intuitive gestures popularised by visual platforms like Instagram and TikTok. This design allows users to navigate content fluidly, moving back and forth naturally across images they want to look at in greater detail on mobile devices. Additionally, an anchored filter enables users to switch between room types seamlessly, creating a more dynamic and user-friendly experience.
Introduction of the Moodboard Feature
A brand-new addition to the platform, the Moodboard feature allows users to save and organise their favourite inspirations and ideas. This is particularly valuable for users as they plan their renovation journey, enabling them to efficiently communicate their preferences and ideas during consultations with designers.
Visual Design – Emotional Connection
A well-crafted visual design is the first handshake between a product and its users, breaking the ice and setting the stage for an emotional connection. It establishes tone and vibe, capable of influencing perceptions in a heartbeat. Take Jaguars’ neon rebranding as an example: transitioning from its classic, luxurious, and uniquely masculine branding to a new identity that is edgy, inclusive, and resonant with the lively movement—all achieved through a refined palette and thoughtful art direction.
For Renonation, we approached design with the same deliberate intent. Extensive research into the target audience, demographics, and user personas informed our decisions every step of the way. The result is a refreshed identity that stays true to the brand while giving users a “renovation partner portal”—creating a brand experience that truly resonates with its audience while outperforming competitors.
By prioritising usability, innovation, and user-focused design, we transformed Renonation into a seamless and engaging platform for homeowners, merchants, and interior designers alike.
